General Questions
"Must my child take religion classes?"
No, your family will identify whether they attend ethics classes or religion classes. While we are built on the fundamentals of the Catholic church, we are an interfaith school.
"Is ASCIS a French school?"
Although we are not a French school, our students begin French in JK and have multiple hours of French instruction per week. They can take French into the Upper School as a traditional OSSD course or at the highest level of IB.
"Is ASCIS a charitable organization?"
We are a not-for-profit corporation and all of our funding goes back into our school community.
“What type of student is ASCIS looking for?”
At ASCIS, we emphasize the “whole-person”. We are looking for students who understand the importance of strong academics balanced with school life.
K-12 Questions
“What programs and/or grade levels are offered at ASCIS?”
ASCIS offers K-12 programming in which all students graduate with an OSSD. Students at the high school level can also opt to complete an IB diploma, IB courses or AP courses. In addition to our K-12 school, we also offer a pre-school, short term program, music school and dance school.
"Does ASCIS have small class sizes?"
Our elementary and secondary school caps its class sizes at 18.
"What technology is used in the classroom?"
K-12 classrooms are fully equipped with large, interactive smart boards for daily use. In addition to smart screens, senior students must have laptop devices for regular use. Students and staff are given Gmail addresses for regular communication. Learning management systems include Schoology and PowerSchool which provide both student and parent portal access.
“Is there someone to help my child with their university applications?”
Our guidance counselor has experience in university applications worldwide, so we provide in-house and personalized attention for university and career goal planning.
"Do ASCIS students have success in applying to post-secondary institutions?"
Our students receive offers from multiple universities worldwide including Ivy League schools with substantial scholarship amounts.
"Do students have the opportunity to travel during the school year?"
Students have the opportunity to take part in service trips to outreach programs in both Canada and the United States. Recent trips have included locations such as British Columbia, Colorado, New York, and Costa Rica.
“How does ASCIS enrich their curriculum at the high school level?”
Our Upper School offers university track programming, helping students gain valuable knowledge for the future. We ensure to teach all OSSD requirements but use that as our foundation and enrich students from there. Students can later choose to dive further into the curriculum through options in IB and AP courses.
Boarding Questions
“What are the basic goals of ASCIS boarding school?”
-Provide opportunities for students to learn in an advanced academic environment

"Are students at ASCIS only local?"
Students come from many countries including China, Mexico, Colombia, USA, Ukraine, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, The Bahamas, Hungary, France, The Netherlands, and more. Many of these students reside on campus in our dormitories.
“Does the ASCIS boarding school have activities?”
Our boarding students take part in many activities with our day students. In addition to all school wide activities, boarding students have other outings, special dinners, trips, etc. during their stay at ASCIS. There are multiple bus trips for boarding students each week to various locations in Windsor, in addition to planned outings such as sports games, etc.
“Do boarding students have access to on campus facilities?”
Yes, athletics facilities as well as our game room are open daily for students residing on or off campus. Students enjoy our The game room (TVs, ping pong tables, pool tables and foosball tables), Student Lounge, and Athletic Facilities including Gymnasium, work out room, outdoor Track and Hockey Shooting range.
“What is included in the dorm rooms?”
Dorm rooms are fully equipped with linen items and furniture (bed, desk, sink, etc.). There are options for both double and single rooms with single gender floors.
“What should I bring?”
Students should pack basic clothing for 4 seasons. Laundry is done once per week, so students should have enough clothing for the week. Students are welcome to bring specific bedding/decorations/extra pillows, etc. if they wish.
“Can I cook in my room?”
For safety reasons no cooking devices are allowed in the dorm rooms. This includes hot plates, kettles, etc. Food lockers are available in the cafeteria and students storing food in their rooms must do so in a sealed container. Students may use cooking areas in the dining hall with adult supervision.
